It is seen that in many Rural and Tribal schools in the Nilgiris, the state of Class room furniture leaves much to be desired. The importance of ergonomically appropriate and adequate furniture in a school in all classrooms cannot be under estimated.

The Rotary Club of the Nilgiris in its quest for making the teaching and learning environment in schools serving the underprivileged sections of society most appropriate has targeted to equip at least 8 classrooms in the worst affected schools in the current Rotary year ending on 30 June 2019. The furniture planned will be sturdy and ergonomically correct and designed for both aesthetics and rough use by energetic young children.

An average estimate for a typical classroom for 25 students and a class teacher is Rs 1.5 Lacs.
