Safe Drinking Water
In Rural and Tribal Schools in the Nilgiris
The Rotary Club of the Nilgiris has been engaged in a very committed way to provide safe Drinking water in the Rural and tribal schools in and around Coonoor in the Nilgiris as well as old age homes for the poor that have been established by some village communities.. As there are over 75 such schools in the area, the task is both humanitarian and challenging. In many schools the challenge becomes even more demanding as there is a need to provide extensive plumbing as well. The club has already completed the project in 10 schools and 2 are work in progress. Two old age homes have also been provided this facility. On an average, the cost to implement the project in one school is around INR 35000/- and we have plans to complete at least 6 more schools by 30 June 2019.
Support to this noble cause will help us improve the quality of life, health and well being of both students and staff of these schools. An extended benefit would be the reduction of dropouts and migration due to this challenge in these schools.
Please donate liberally to this low cost but very important community service.
